Feeling very tired tonight so just a quickie if thats OK, now where have I heard that before!!
Actually the reason being I've just had nine frames of snooker with the new signing I secured yesterday for our snooker team though as he hadnt played for many months perhaps its no surprise he only managed one double figure break in that time, maybe he wont prove to be the shrewdest of acquisitions after all (especially with his previous temperament doubts) but I can always sack myself half way through the season if things are going badly lol (or should I say when things are going badly looking at the squad on paper!!)
Managed to get two out of the three bets up today, Ricky Walden made a very slow start against the Nugget but from 2-0 down won the remaining five frames, he was admittedly aided by a fluked pink in the sixth frame but for which it could easily have gone 3-3. He now meets Mark Selby who saw off Marco Fu 5-3 from 1-3 down, in fact the Hong Kong cueist probably didnt make the most of his chances after the interval so though he gave me a run for my money at 15/8 perhaps will feel its one that got away.
The other winner I bagged was Stephen Maguire who edged out Ryan Day 5-4 in a tit for tat battle of pretty open snooker for much of the time. Mag will however have his hands full in the semi final against the man of the moment Ronnie O Sullivan who saw off Mark Williams 5-3.
For tomorrow was tempted by Ronnie at 1/2 but decided to leave it in the end and just backed Selby at 4/11 (admittedly no great value) but more particularly to cover my each way outright bet on Walden.
Just wondering about whether to back Ronnie at 11/10 in the outrights too before I hit the sack and then will guarantee at least some kind of profit out of that market (already have the other three), though am really more of a gambler at heart than one for closing out with a profit.
Suppose if I do tend to hedge my bets its more often in the later stages of a tourney where I stand to win a fair amount on the other options.
The snooker starts at 6am tomorrow with no live action guaranteed on Eurosport, could get up early to watch the Sopcast feed but might settle for the highlights instead looking at the time!!
Was considering laying Norwich against the Rams on the Daq but missed an opportunity at 2.53 before I went out and not sure I really want to go as high as 2.6+ with one of our central defenders out injured, plus the home side have just acquired Leroy Lita on loan from Reading and was quite impressed with him a couple of years ago unless he's lost his way in the interim.
Anyway before I nod off at the computer I'll say adios
All the best
Rick
